My car is experiencing the same stuff.. i have a 95 se spd and it used to be really hard to start.. would have to crank it for like 15 secs or so.. now its dead as a door nail...

fuel pump works.
replaced the fuel filter

this is driving me mad.. i want to kick in all the door panels right now..

Check crank sensor (REF) - CHECK FIRST, don't just replace it....

Do you have fuel? Remove a spark plug and see if it's got a lot of gas on it. If so, then it's a spark/electronics issue - usually one of the above mentioned sensors.

If you don't have a lot of fuel on the plugs by now, you might have a bad fuel pump.

Re: Re: Finally Car Doesn't start

after cranking the car.. for like 5 mins.. u can actually smell the un used gas from the tail pipe...

MY ecu threw a 0407 crankshaft position sensor code.
there is two sensors right.?
which one is the (Ref)

I bought the damn car a month ago and have driven it for two days .. so ****ed off:mad:

any other ideas would be helpfull

what about the transmision grounding situation that people keep talking about??

( car ran perfect when i could get it started!!

I had a crankshaft position sensor go, although i am not sure which one it was, my car did the exact same thing you are describing, it would crank forever...never start. It was a 500$ FARKING FIX! good luck i really hope it works out for you

Crank REF is located under the lower drive pully. If you turnthe wheel to the right and pull down the splash shield, you'll see it. Take it off and clean up the tiny metal dust that accumulates on the magnetic tip. Your car might start....

The tranny grounding situation I feel is BS. There are huge bolts that go deep into the engine block from the tranny. That current path alone is large enough to send current to a block of houses. Forget about the mating surfaces.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Finally Car Doesn't start

so i remove and clean both crank shaft position sensors. the ref one looked ok.. i checked its Ohm reading and it was A ok.. so i went ahead to check the Pos sensor.. it was covered in metal filings. big ones... and the o2 sensor bracket was incorrectly sandwiched between the sensor and the bell housing..( probabaly when they changed the clutch) ..
so does it start know..NO NO NO NO
here is the real kick in the balls.. i burnt out the starter motor when i was letting it crank for like 20 secs..

WORST LUCK ever..
( murphy's law is my life.)
