De-pinstriping was not a total success

i went to finally take off my pinstripes and on the font left fender the stripe was embedded in my paint. i took it off without knowing this and it left a long gash the length of the fender, but it's the color of my car. has anyone heard of this happening? anything i can do?

Your fender was repaired and refinished by a cheap body shop at some point in time. They just shot clear coat over your pin stripe instead of removing it and putting new striping on the car.

You might be able to buff it out if that's the case...i.e. there's clearcoat underneath. If the paint isn't really damaged you can probably even out the level of the clearcoat. I would suggest a buffer, since it will take a lot of work, but it might come out okay...

let me know what u deicide to do and how it comes out, i have the same problem , my right fender seems like its been clear coated over the pinstripe , only reason i cant take it off unless i have it painted , but dont have the money for that now
