OK, I took a trip to the oil change place today, to have my tranny flushed on my auto maxse. They told me that since I have over 60k (I have 100k) that I wouldhave to sign a waiver and that there is a good chance that if i have never had it done before (I dont know, I have only owned the car for 5k) that when they flush it and put the new stuff in, that the old corrosion in there will be broken down by the new fluid and it will kill my tranny. Is this true??? I have been told by different people that I need my tranny flushed, b/c my reverse has serious trouble.

About 50% of the time, my reverse won't engage till about 3,000rpm then it jerks when it catches....

What do I do?

well i would seriously consider having your tranny looked at first b4 getting it flushed...not having reverse engage properly could be more serious than just a flush...

about the flush...they are correct that you can do more harm than good but at this point its a risk i would take...i did mine at 95k and i was so happy i did....the tranny shifts more smoothly now and overall has improved...good luck

I think the issue is that when they do the flush on the machine, the pan is not removed and cleaned, so the crud (metal particles) remiain on the bottom of the pan. When new fluid is added through the fill tube, it kicks up the sludge. Then the new oil is contaminated w/ metal particles. The best way to do it is to remove and clean the pan, install w/ a new gasket and refill and then use the flush machine. I just remove the pan, clean and refill every 30 K miles, but this gets only about half the fluid out. I do this before it gets any burnt smell. The other half remains in the torque converter.
