bump for the question

plus, does anyone experience creaking noises from the bar rubbing against the hoodliner perhaps on turns?

I want to say 30ftlbs. but i can't be sure

BigJayx23 Apr 23, 2003 02:14 PM

well i cant say i have experienced any noise yet cuz i just got the bar but if there is i will let u know.. well from wat i read from the chilton manual without the strut bar the nuts are suppose to be torqued at 30 to 40ft lb. but now you have a strut bar there shouldnt the torque be increased.. to say about 40 to 50? correct me if im wrong...

Correct. I always split the number to allow you some room for error. I torque to 35 ft lbs.

Don't ever go over the maximum recommended torque spec. The studs aren't designed for that amount of torque, so you'd probably break them. If you're worried about them loosening drive around for a while (~100 miles) and retorque to 35 ft. lbs.

Thanx hype will do... just got confused with this other site... there was a site putting in a stillen front strut bar and they used 40 to 50ft lb. i think it was a 99 max or a 98max... o by the way... is there a rear strut bar for our car?
