also, i know there's a whole bunch of 225/55/15 tires out there but... is this going to give that detested 4x4 look?

You have a 6.5" wide rim and and 225/60/15 will fit.

hey thanks man!

Since stock tires are 205/60/15 the much wider225/60/15 will mess up your speed. At least get them in lower profile to get things even like 225/50or55/15...

You will not mess up your speedo. The 205 has a diameter of 25.5 the 225 has a diameter of 25.6 not an issue. I have the 225 on my max and the speedo is correct...and the police say so

thanks guys... there was a bunch of 225/50/15 that I was actually looking at and i'd rather go for these if I could but the last thing I want is that 4x4 look..anyone know if it makes much of a difference? Cause I'm thinking its only 10mm what's the big deal..

thanks bro! .. hey, i thought the 225 referred to the width of the tire, that the diameter remained the same unless regardless you changed the sidewall height?

What is your stock size? If you have an SE (I'm guessing with your 215/60R15 that you do?), a 225/60R15 is only 1.9% larger than 215/60R15. Within 4% is generally acceptable and not too noticeable. The 225/50R15 is 5.2% smaller than SE tires and 6.4% smaller than stock 205/65R15 GLE/GXE tires. Those will slightly increase the fender gap.

You can play with tire sizes here: tire size calculator Put the tire you want to compare to in first (usually stock size).

Yes, 225 is the width (more or less). The sidewall height changes with the aspect ratio of the tire. what the sidewall numbers mean
