Is this a true dual exhaust system at the muffler shops...what I am asking ,is there a true dual exhaust system from the manifolds back,,,is that possible on a maxima,,,.....Excuse me, but I do not have recent experience with exhaust systems,,want to find out if this is possible or is the dual exhaust just from the y pipe back?

blackmaxtn Oct 10, 2010 12:43 AM

Im looking to buy a dual exhaust for my maxima i just got a body kit and it has a bumper for a dual exhaust. Any one know of a good one? Custom maxima.com has one for sale for 400 something is that one worth it or is it better to get one custom built at the muffler shop?

I am going to try to make a dual exhaust with pipes on the same side using 2.25" pipe by cutting the flex pipe off my damaged y pipe and welding in an x pipe, use stock hangers, in a few weeks...

Just go to an exhaust shop, depending on where you are and if you can get a deal it should only cost around $250+-.

Jeffsta119 Oct 14, 2010 11:49 AM

i got a quote done for my max for custom exhaust for $350

2000_MAXIMA_KING Oct 14, 2010 12:00 PM

I had duals put on my honda passport I used to own for like 250 and this was 5 years ago, considering now there are more shops giving out better deals I think between 200 to 250 is fair for a maxima, and custom maxima is a bunch of bs imo get a custom one from a local muffler shop

silencecalls Oct 14, 2010 01:17 PM

now, 200 - 250 is that for a true dual exhaust (one pipe for each bank on cylinders) or a fake dual exhaust that splits after the y-pipe?

good luck on splitting the piping after ypipe. Where's it going to go? If you've ever been under there its pretty cramped. IIRC the ppl that used to do dual exhaust (on 4th gens) had to beat the spare tire well to make room

2000_MAXIMA_KING Oct 14, 2010 02:19 PM

What tiger said a muffler shop will probably just do it which ever way it would fit

omoran2958 Oct 15, 2010 10:29 AM

im getting mine done this weekend.....i had the spare tire removed by a body shop, they welded a straigh piece so i have plenty of room... $150 to remove the spare tire and $120 to put the extra muffler......ill post some pics after it gets done....

I know ppl be hatin...but i love the Alteeza look. Dope!

Do it right and hit a muffler shop. Still the mod is more for looks than anything else.

omoran2958 Oct 15, 2010 12:11 PM

yea i know! i love the altezza lights something different..........

this is just a thought, is there a good increase of power for the dual-exhaust mod or is it more for looks? I know that the 300zx's have dual exhaust and our motors are similar but has anyone reported any gains from the dual exhaust mod on a dyno? Oh yea, my friend sean said it would cost 260 for that mod, but that is in my area so i guess it can depend on your location..

It will make power if the fabractor knows what hes doing,

Taking it to a muffler shop , they wont do calcuations , they just weld pipes toghter to make it work.

Mines have 2 x over pipes and there a certain distances before the xpipes merge for torque.

running length ,Mandrel pipes, X- merger is part of the equation in builing a true dual exhuast.

any muffler shop can build you 2 pipes and make it look nice for you, and thats the difference in paying at menkiene muffler VS a performance shop.

I never did a before dyno but I gain a decent amount but this is on a A34/VQ35DE a couple of years ago

blackmaxtn Oct 15, 2010 10:47 PM
