Is the torque wrench with a scale near the handle reliable?

reliable for small things like strut bars but I personally wont trust torquing wheels with them. I prefer a click trype

Probably reliable but not accurate. A cheap Harbor Freight $10-$20 1/2" 'clicker' type torque wrench would probably be more consistent. I believe you're referring to the torsion beam style.

I was going to suggest the reverse of what you said. If the needle isn't that accurate, the %-age margin of error is less where the torque required is high like wheels.

I broke some low torque bolts trusting one of those things... Never again will I go cheap on tools. I forked over like 49 for a way better torque wrench and it hasn't let me down yet. I would say buy a good one - you'll be surprised at how much stuff you use it for that you never thought you would.
