Recently my car has developed a knocking sound, and it idles pretty rough. I'm running Zex coppers that were installed 23k ago, I haven't changed the PCV valve, Fuel filter it about 20k old, I have a CEL for a Engine coolant temp sensor and I have a new one sitting waiting to be installed.

Now for the doozy to my story... I was at the track at the end of April and I missed 2nd gear while spraying. I'm not positive if I did hit the rev limiter, but it is a possibility. But the knocking did not develop until a week and a half after the track. I don't know if this has anyting to do with my problem but wanted to put it out there as an option.

Should I do a regular tuneup or be looking for a new engine because of the nitrous incident and that I bent something?? Thanks.

Do a tune up and replace the filters (oil,fuel) and change the PCV valve and your coolant temprature sensor, and see if the problems clear up......

I have done a major tune up and I still get a slight knock at about 4K rpms. I've had the injectors cleaned and now I switched from Exxon 93 octane to CHeveron and I still have the knock going into 3rd.

Bump.... the knocking is becoming really loud after I drive the car a decent distance. I'm starting to worry about it reliability eventhough it still accelerates smoothly. The knocking is audible from 15 feet away from the car.
