90K miles. Tranny Rebuild?

Im upset but looks like im gonna have to take it up the a$$ on this one.

For the guys that have had their Transmissions rebuilt: What are you paying? This shop is doing it for $1200 but they are also installing a clutch free of charge (EXEDY that i bought) and the rear main seal too. Is this a legit deal? I know that nissan would charge $1800+ no doubt. I just ALWAYS feel like im getting taken when i get my car worked on.

Sorry if this is a repeat post, but i cant SEARCH and I could use this insight ASAP.

What exactly does the "rebuild" include? If they crack it open and every gear is shot and the case is cracked does that mean they give you another tranny?

I just got my whole tranny rebuilt. Replaced all internals, torque converter replaced, valve body modified for quicker shifts and hayden tranny cooler installed. All with a 2 yr/ 24,000 mile warrenty for the neck-breaking price of 2850.00. I must say my max feels better than ever on my butt-dyno. :)

Its funny to that your are paying $1200 for a rebuilt and getting the clutch installed for free.

You are definitely paying for the clutch install and more.

It'll be cheaper to buy a used tranny and have it installed.

You ask him exactly what the "rebuild means".... If you get the feeling he's trying to screw you he probably is. Then go somewhere else....

But as others have stated you might be better off getting a used tranny with low miles...
