My transmission is on it's way out at 68,000 miles!
this is crazy. what kind of tranny dies at 68,000 miles? i am so upset. those of you who know me this just proves that i have the worst luck. i mean this is just really bad because i need to sell my car soon and i don't want to drop any money into my car now. if i was planning on keeping it i would definetly do a 5spd conversion.
but on the otherhand i am not positave it is totaly a lost cause... i mean i am pretty sure it is, but you never know. this is what my car is doing: when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd it seems like the car goes into neutral and the rmps rise and then 2 seconds or so go by and then it finally shifts into 2nd. it does the same when going into 3rd. i have not tested it when going into forth because i am scared to go any faster in my car now. it seems like there is lag bewteen when the car tells it to shift and when it actually does. could it be the syncros? there is not grinding in which i have heard. any have any help or info for me? thanks. mine is doing the same !!!!
plus when i'm driving at 35-40MPH she goes into overdrive is that normal at such speed ???
i've read in the oil/lube forum that the tranny oil should be at the HOT mark  - if it's lower than that it will miss out the 4th gear  Nick |
how long has it been doing it for? do you beat on your car? if you do, are you still? have you heard anything at all to fix this? my check engine light just came on... i need to go pull the codes again.
please some one help. :( |
my reverse gear gave out at 45k.
Basically forward was perfect but the reverse would just act like it was in neutral. AFter the tranny repair, there's a second lag between 1 and 2nd gear. Slightly annoying when the car is just started but nonexistent when the car is warmed up. Nissan tranny's dont hold up. I have an 95 and only have 51k on it. Its my third car and its gently driven on the weekends. |
