You can get a cover from the dealership. It looks like this:

for a better cleaner way, remove the rear deck and wrap it in vinyl instead of that lid

remove rear seat, remove the plastic covers on both sides where the seatbelts are and it should pop out and is held in buy clips. If you find some matching vinyl it will look very good, better than the fuzzy cloth thats on there now. Ive done mine twice already and once its off, it only takes about 20 min to cut out the vinyl and staple it all around from under the deck.

Call David Burnette at South Point Nissan (888) 254-6060 and tell him you need a cover for the third brake light hole. It's a standard part for all 3rd and 4th gen Maximas, if not 5th gen as well.

The charcoal ones are TWICE as much as the tan ones for some unknown reason: $26 or so for charcoal and $13 for tan.

I have a question about this: Wouldn't it be illegal to remove this in certain areas (such as Michigan)?

Nismo, got any pics? I was considering doing that (using vinyl) cuz I want to get rid of my brake light and use my aftermarket speaker grilles.

ok I just took some pics. I used the same vinyl as I did for my door inserts so they all match.

Actually I have a quick Q, i'm gonna be doing my rear deck (black) and my door inserts (white) this week, where did you get the vinyl that you used? I was gonna go by a fabrics store or an arts & crafts place but i'm not sure if they carry it.

I got mine from a local upholstery shop and I got about a yard and a half for around $20 any color. fabric stores and all that might not have vinyl made to withstand the heat and sun so I would look for an upholstery shop.

my advise about the door inserts is to buy some vinyl that can strech a little to make it easier. only tools for the rear deck is sissors and a staple gun.

rear deck- have it laying flat on the floor over the vinyl and trace out the pattern with a marker(make shure you make the vinyl a couple inches bigger so you can fold it and staple the edges in the back) after you get the pattern start cutting slots around the speaker holes so you can get it to strech to make the holes so it wont crease. then start stapling.

door inserts- do the same thing, cut the pattern and have it like a half inch bigger. leave the stock cloth insert on door, get some contact cement and spray over the cloth and the back of the vinyl and stick it on and start pushingn the edges in the creases of the door with a flat screwdriver until its all tucked in.

if u dont understand something let me know

All done check it out, page 4 of my homepage. Thanks for the help again Nismo, I did the doors a little differently though, I took the inserts off completly instead of tucking it in. Took a little more time but i'm very happy with the results. I also did the armrest, it was a pain in the a$$!
