Smashed my black maxima, got a green one. but i want to know if H&R or Eibachs are best for a 98 SE.

had eibachs for bout 5 months but i felt they were just a little to firm for my sensitive rear. put in h&r's and they ride alot better. drop is about the same. handling is a little less crisp than the eibachs but i don't auto x or anything so it was a fair trade off.

I have H&R with stock shocks on my 96SEa. Love them.

Which H&R springs???
 

Do you guys (who love your H&R springs) have the "oe sport springs", "sport springs" or the "racing springs"???

Also, are they all progressive?

I think H&R only makes the "sports" series springs for the Maxima.

That's what I have and they are excellent.

I have the "sport" springs but have not seen others available in the listed names. They were installed with stock struts and I anticipate changing them out in a year but am really pleased with the change in handling I have from them. Sometimes the drop does not seem as much as I would want but for the price and reputation --- aside from the install hassle --- I like them a lot.

I just got a set of H&R's and Tokicos, haven't installed them yet. I wish H&R made the OE spring. I don't want a significant drop on my car. I just installed the Stillen front lip and that brought the front of the car down 1.75" already. I'm going to try coil spring spacers that will raise the spring half and inch.

Is this in addition to the factory upper bushing (the rubber one) or is it a replacement? Where do you find them? Thanks Kevin.

So, eibachs gives that much more of a stiffer ride???

I'm asking because, I REALLY wanted the eibachs. Plus, they lower the car just a little more than H&Rs, so I'm told.

By the way, anyone have to install the camber adjusters after installing springs??? Are they really necessary???

The spacers
 

They have many different kinds. There is a doughnut type that fits between the spring and the strut, there are 3/4" rubber blocks that fit between the coils when uncompressed(with the car jacked up and off the tires), so that when you lower the car back down (compressing the springs with the weight of the car) it will be slightly higher than before. One other member on this board is using them. They are specifically designed for drag racing as it minimizes spring travel and weight distribution for the rear tires. I'm going to try them once I get the H&R's on. They sell them at Pep Boys and Autozone. I believe Superior manufactuers them.

I just got my H&R's installed (spot) accompanied by KYB's. I think the 2 inch drop is much needed because of the huge gap in the se suspension or gxe suspension. It made a huge improvement in the look of my car and I love the feel of the whole setup. It isnt harsh either. I recommend this setup highly and so do a few friends of mine who have similar setups.
