For people who've taken the CA SMOG test

What were your results? I have a JWT Intake, Y-pipe, Apexi Catback. I passed, but I passed with better numbers than I thought. I'm glad about it, but I just want to know what you guys got for your results. I thought I would barely pass but I was no where near the max limit. The only thing that increased was the HC @ idle, which changed from 4 to 15, but max limit is still 100 on that. Anyway, here are my numbers:

ave = average results in CA
max = maximum allowable
old = old results from 2 years ago, stock setup

Idle:

CO2: 15.2%
02: 0.00%

HC (PPM): 15 (ave 17, max 100, old 4)
CO: 0.01% (ave 0%, max 1.00%, old 0.01%)

2500 RPM:

CO2: 15.2%
02: 0.00%

HC (PPM): 16 (ave 12, max 130, old 13)
CO: 0.01% (ave 0.10%, max 1.00%, old 0.00%)

mine were pretty low too...

mine were really low too, 2 years ago with the same mods

Cool, thanks for the feedback. I guess a Y-pipe doesn't increase emissions too much, especially when the cat is already hot.

Currently on EBAY for $90 shipped (I bought mine from the same guy).

I didn't pass twice. I have an intake, Stillen Y and B-pipe, 5th gen stock muffler, and stock cat on my 97 SE. I passed with flying colors 2 years ago, just before I did my exhaust mods (literally an hour after I passed smog, I installed my Y and B pipes).

My first failed test didn't pass the 15MPH HC and NO & 25MPH HC and NO. I put in that "guaranteed to pass emission" stuff in my tank and drove it till empty, but 89 instead of 91 Techron in my tank and my numbers were better, but no pass. This time I just didn't pass the 15MPH HC and the 25MPH NO. I had them diagnose my car and they said the cat was the problem. They gave me an honest quote at $800 for an OEM cat. I told them I had an RT Cat in my garage. I installed it, went back the next day and passed.

I don't think I'll pass next time around. I honestly think there is something up with my car. Hopefully when I dyno tune my SAFC II, I'll have a file made to pass emissions.

i didn't pass... EGR valve code 0302 and instead of paying $180 to fix the problem i went back the next day, gave him $80, and I passed :wall:

I'm thinking my EGR lines have a lot of carbon in them and need to be cleaned... the lack of cleaning leads to more NOX i guess...

I see, so a lot of it has to do with whether your car is in fine running condition or not. 02 sensors and the cat are probably important things to also look out for.
