Found a GREAT deal on a wrecked 5Spd - Where's HLH0501?

I know Hal had a complete list of instruction and parts on his website... but it's not there anymore.

I need to act on this before the car get stripped... did anyone save the page and pictures, or does anyone have a comparable or better set of instructions for the swap?

Please, I need the info ASAP!! I am trying to get the tranny and parts by the end of the day.

i have the instruction but it's on the paper. and i have no scanner

AgaricX Aug 21, 2003 03:46 PM

Close, but no cigar.... does it have pics?

I'll pay for your trouble to scan it in at Kinko's

nupe500 Aug 22, 2003 05:53 AM

man....this is what you need as I just used Hals Page...

the tranny obviously
the clutch pedal and brake pedal
the neutral switch
the 5 speed ECU if you can get it
the Harness, if you can get it/want it
The shifter
the clutch master cylinder and slave
the washers on the inside of the firewall where the clutch pedal attaches, you actually have to rip them off(or buy new ones)
make sure you get the tranny mount, because the manual one is different from the automatic one.
The shifter trim

I think thats it...enjoy have fun and take your time

I've got Hal's writeup saved in a Word document. Give me your email address and I'll send it to you.

can you send it to me..?

Olakunle@comcast.net

Thanks,

I just want an electronic copy of it.

Who needs a writeup? Remove auto tranny, insert manual tranny (and stuff). How complicated can that be?

:o

How long does it take you guys to do this swap? From what I've read there are a lot of small details that could be royal PITA.

Took me a total of about 20 hours. Yeah, lots of little details related to installing the clutch pedal and clutch master cylinder, getting the auto shifter out and installing the shift linkage. The actual tranny replacement was the easy part.

Figured.

Glad I bought a 5-speed. ;)

I'm with Stephen, but I've run into what I think is an electrical problem..I did the engine and tranny swap from a 97 to a 95 but here in lies the problem. I need to put in the neutral switch from the 5 speed car and also there is a plug behind the radio(gray) that the 5 speed(97) harness had more wires than the 95 or vice-versa, I forget...details to come later, I just forgot what the write-up said about the neutral switch.

Oh...ejj, I had a 5 speed, then someone jack arse ran me off the road...:(

Yeah, I've seen your posts about it. That sucks! I went out of my way to buy a 99 engine for my 99 so I wouldn't have any wiring surprises. I can imagine that re-wiring the entire car would be a killer job!

AgaricX Aug 22, 2003 10:26 AM

Please send me a Word copy ASAP. They won't hold the car. I'm going to get everything on the list so far in an hour or so.
