96 GLE's AC problem.
 

my dad owns a 96 GLE. he has the auto climate control. his ac sux.
it gives off air but half the time, it's not even "cool".. it's just a breeze.. does any1 know what's wrong with it? and if so, how much is he looking at to getting it fixed??

Check to make sure both of his cooling fans (by the radiator) are on whenever the AC is on. If only one comes on, the AC will be warm (or ambient air temp) when the car is stopped. But it will cool again at highway speeds.
If this isn't it, check the pressure on the LOW side (by PS reservoir). Should be around 24-30 psi depending on ambient air temp). If it's low, take it to a shop and have them find the leak and recharge it. If it is high, a safety feature shuts off the compressor to avoid building too much pressure.
Check the actual temp of the air coming out of the center vents with the AC on max after running it about 10 minutes. A good AC system can cool the air a max of about 40*F compared to outside air (there's actually a chart for the temps in the FSM).

The price for AC work can vary greatly on what needs done and who does it.

I dont know 2 much about it so maybe someone can go more into detail on this but i have herd and seen it installed and fix a toyota camery's air conditioning that was 100% dead. It comes in a can (3 cans) and is 100% legal b/c it does not harm the environment like freon. it will work with your current freon, it mixes perfect with exsisting freon. it also includeds (in the can) some oil's to lub up you system and it says it will fix small leaks (i dont know how true that may be)

Hopefully someone knows a little more about this i will see what i can dig up on it. All i know is the camry's air was 100% dead... i saw 2 and a 1/2 cans get pumped into it and the air was pratically shotting frost WAY colder then my max.

That is the Maxi-Cool stuff from Auto Zone, Wal Mart, etc...
It is an R134a charge, as cars no longer use freon (R12).
It could work, but I have doubts about it sealing leaks. It may be able to do it sometimes, but I think a proper repair of a leak (usually O-rings) is much better. Another problem with it is you can't control the amount of oil that is added to your system. AC's can be messed up with too much/too little oil, and it has to be the proper type for Nissans.
A professional will repair any leaks properly, add proper type/amount of oil, apply a vacuum, recharge the system, and op check the system. If it's not right (leaking), they will fix it again. The above service costs less than $100 in my area. Any parts that need replaced will be extra. And a proper repair should last many years.
How long did the Camry's AC hold the charge? I had a buddy who would lose his in 2 weeks time until he got it properly fixed.

the camry is running on about a month now... and last i head its still running nice and cool...
