Need help with strange noise

I recently replaced the alternator and accessory belts. About a month or two after I started getting a noise when I start the car that sounds like a winding noise immediately after I release the ignition and the car starts. It only does it on the initial start and only when the car is cold (engine not warmed up, not outside temp.) I checked the belts and they are not too tight and not too loose, at least I don't think so. Is it just me or do you need a second elbow to adjust the back belt bolt. I got it but man did it suck. A lift would have helped for sure. Don't know if the noise is related to the belts but that is what I was thinking and it never made the noise before. Thanks for any advice.

I don't know if it is the belts or not, just that it started not too long after I replaced them. Maybe a coincidence. It almost sounds like the starter is keeping on trying to start. It only doing it when the engine is cold had me thinking that it was the belts. I haven't raised the hood and listened. It doesn't make it after it is running and only does it for about 1-2 seconds but is annoying.

So am I going to be replacing it soon? I have 130,000 miles on it. I found a post in one of the sticky's last night about reoiling them. Is it worth it to reoil or just buy a new one?

re-oil it for as long as you can but put some money in a jar for a new one.

not too hard to install with some basic tools.

So my car has an automatic start and lojack (lojack not working because I refuse to pay 99 dollars to have it switched from previous owner's name to my name) so anyways, I was told by a VW mechanic that the automatic starter will screw with the car's starter. I haven't heard anything funny going on, but what sorts of things should I look out for? Should I not use the automatic start anymore? I freakin love this site.

New belts tend to strech and ours are not self tensioning. I would tighten up the alternator belt.
