2 Belts, maybe $20 for both belts....$0 labor if you DIY, $40-60 labor from a shop. Replace when you see cracking, stripping, maybe squealing.

One is the accesory belt (A/C, alternator) the other inner belt is for power steering. $40-60 total labor (supplying your own belts!)

RTFM

"Read the F****** Manual"

It's fun to read up on your car and it tells you all the maintenance times and has a DIY section.

Maintenace manual and car owners manual (usually found in glove box)specs inspection, but not replacement of belts at 60k. If it's squeeling,it's either tensioned improperly, worn out,or an idler or accessory bearing is toast. Like the dude above said, if the belts are cracked or stripped replace 'em. Other maintenance items at 60k (according to manual) are coolant change and spark plug change.

Mine has over 100K w/ original belts, there is some squealing at times upon startup on a damp or humid day but it goes away when the car is warm, would it be time to change the belts once I get the car back?

I don't know about worried, but once the belts start squealing you have 2 options:

1. Look for cracks and retighten if they look good.
2. Replace them.

Of course another is to let the belt squeal and melt all over your pullies and eventually fail while you are out on the road. I've tried it. Not fun.

I read somewhere that we don't have to change our belts until about 150,XXX. I'll try to find the site. I can't remember exactly what it said I don't want to misinform you

It's in the Sticky FAQ's. It's about the timing belt. It says that all VQ powered maximas (95-on) don't need a timing belt replacement because its a dual stage belt. However much that helps

Just because the manual says to not change them until 150,000 doesn't mean you shouldn't. I have 130,000 and mine are getting bad cracks and need to be replaced.

We are talking about accessory belts.. the ones that turn the alternator, power steering and a/c.

Hmmm... Where in the FAQs did you find that information? VQs don't need timing belt replacement because they have a timing chain. Not a belt. That's in the FAQs too. Strange that you found that info though. Unless "dual stage belt" is just another name for "chain".
