Why doesn't JWT make their ECU reprogrammer
a portable one like every other company out there? They do the EXACT same thing and I don't see why they don't release them. None of this core crap and no downtime. What's stopping them? The only reason I see is that there might not be that much of a demand but there isn't much of a demand for the other ones but they advertise the hell out of them and sell them...

Every other company?
What other company makes portable tuners for Maximas? |
For maximas none, for other cars many. Even JET makes them for different cars. Most of them are for domestics and I don't know why...
|
Jet makes one for our car actually...i wouldnt pay for it
|
That's because the JET ECU sucks and people won't buy the portable one cause they know it doesn't do anything. My cousin got one for his turbo-diesel truck(yeah I know a truck) a few days ago. That and new injectors and his power doubled. I know we won't get gains like that but the hains with the JWT ECU are good enough...
|
also, if JWT made a ECU reprogrammer, they would lose a lot of money. One org member would buy it, and charge everyone else like 100-200 bucks to do their chip, it would be worth in, and everyone without a JWT would want theirs done, and everyone with a JWT would want a refund
|
Works for other companies and I don't see why it wouldn't work for us. People on the ORG actually care about the expansion of our aftermarket support and wouldn't do that to drive vendors away. Seeing as not all ECUs are the same(95-96) are the only ones they bothered to crack, and succeeded, that wouldn't happen...
|
well, wouldnt u do ur buddies, instead of him paying hundreds of dollars to buy his own chip, or even more to buy a machine to reprogram it? yes we are dedicated to our aftermarket, but no one likes spending unecessary ammounts of money
|
Why? Because our ECUs can't be flashed like most Domestic ECUs. JWT and G-Force actually go in and solder in their own circut board plus they do some programming of the OEM ECU circut board.

...that too, thanks Dave!

Dave Now I don't remember where I've seen this, but I do recall ECU's being able to be reflashed with new a/f ratio's and the likes. Could I be wrong or miss-guided on this? Maybe |

I'm sure you know more bout this than I do but doesn't JWT actually reprogram the A/F ratio's and timing, then use the piggyback method for their nitrous program? Or maybe its just some domestics that can have their ECU's reflashed. Wrong? Right? Half Right? |
JWT reprograms the ignition timing curve, A/F ratios, speed limiters, rev limiters.
If you want nitrous control, they add another daughter board. |
So what your saying is that JWT only uses the piggyback for nitrous and the other variations made to the ECU are done on the actual motherboard? If so then wouldn't this mean that they have to reflash the new info onto the motherboard?
The only reason I ask this is because I was under the impression that Nissan moved to an EPROM type programing in late '99 and continued till '03, then decided to go back to the old method. I could be waaaaaaaaaaaay off on this but could someone shed some light on this? |
They take the oem eprom OFF the mother board and then install their own eprom onto the motor board. Not the same as the new nissans and bmws
Older Nissan ecu eproms are read only. |
