need insight...changed knock sensor, little improvement

My ECU turned-up a ghost code just for my knock sensor and nothing else. I replaced the knock sensor and did not feel any restored power or increase in responsiveness. I did a search and discovered how critical the torque was. (15-20lbs.) I thought to myself, "maybe I overtightened?" I got my girlfriend to squeeze her hand in there and loosen it- still no return of power. Can the knock sensor malfunction if it was torque'd too much? What else could it be? The ECU indicates no problems whatsoever. The only other thing i can think of is my exhaust- the muffler is coming apart. Thanks for the time and any feedback.

Yes, torque is critical.
Too loose = knock sensor not as sensitive
Too tight = knock sensor very sensitive

MAF sensor? :gotme: Try cleaning it or swap it with someone real quick to see if it's the problem.

Is your intake nice and tight? Mine was leaking where the MAF sensor connects to the resonator. Now I replaced the rubber connector and got a hose clamp for a buck at Home Depot and now my car runs a little better :) Also hacked the stock air box. I have a little low end lag (when it's less than 2k RPM), but it flies at night when the weather is nice and cold.
