Water Pump Might be going... Who here had their's changed?
What were the symptoms of bad water pump? (constant 'clicking' sound during idle etc.)
Did u replace it with OEM or used (junk yard etc.)? How many miles did you have on the Max before the replacement? Thanks for sharing. AnGe |

I had mine replaced in May. I got under the car to wrap my y-pipe then as I was wrapping the pipe I felt some drops. I thought it's probably the a/c condensation, but then realized that I only turned on the car to get it on the ramps, and then that the fluid was green  . Mine was just a few drops from the timing chain cover area, but since I live in San Diego, and drive all over the place in hot weather, including the mountains to the east:)(lots of tight turns, and somtimes very hot desert weather), I got it fixed right away. I did not hear any noise from it. I paid around $500 dollars total at the dealer for them to install a new OEM pump. I was quoted cheaper at some other places, some were way cheaper, but I did not trust them. One place kept asking if I was sure that I did not have a timing belt, I told them a few times "I know for a fact that my car has a timing CHAIN!", then they said really? So off to the dealer I went, I did not want to experience the horror stories that I read about here on the org. from taking it to shops who did not know our cars.

i think ur constant ticking is normal, take hose 8in+ and hold one end to ur ear and the other around the engine until you can pinpoint the noise. it could also be ur IAC valve ticking, maybe ur injectors too.

What make you think it's the water pump?

Interesting....
Ange,
I actually called several of the Nissan dealerships here in Milwaukee/Madison area asking about the same thing. From what I got, water pumps are usually replaced between 170k to 200k. One dealership in Madison just replaced one last summer at 190k. So, typical should be in the high teens (but then again, it might list forever too). Good luck, Armand |
