Low rpm acceleration stall problem? help

I bought a used 97 Maxima GXE with a quite high mileage 110K. After driving it for a couple of months, I noticed a problem that the acceleration will stall for a tiny second in the low rpm(usually below 1800) if I push the gas pedal too deep. I can feel the engine is kind of weak in the low rpm range which I didn't feel much more powerful than my old Civic, but no any warning light on. Meanwhile the power in the high rpm(more than 3000) is pretty amazing, and I can feel the power on the highway. I filled the car with premium gas as recommended by the manual.

Is this a commom problem for a Maxima or some part in my car is wrong?

your advices are appreciate, thank you!

It might be your KS. Try disconnecting it under the hood and test driving.IF the car feels the same, then u need a new one. You can also test the resitance of the sensor with an OHm meter. A bad KS will kill your low rpm acceleration as well as give u bad economy.

If it still isn't the KS then you may try cleaning out your intake manifold and throttle body. There may be a lot of buildup with 110k.

Or maybe you need to get a good tune-up. (i.e. Fuel filter, plugs...)

Make sure your MAF sensor is plugged in all the way. I sprayed some TB cleaner into my TB before and I accidently didn't plug in the MAF sensor connector thing all the way in and this caused my car to have low end lag (<2k).

When I sprayed some more TB cleaner into my TB yesterday, I plugged it in all the way and now my low end is back. At first I thought my MAF sensor was dying (the RPMs would drop FAST from like 4k to 1.5k when I would let go of the gas). Now everything is normal

Do a full tuneup (using NGK plugs) and clean the TB & IACV. Check your knock sensor too (check the ECU for codes, the KS will NOT cause the engine light to come on if it's bad).

Thanks, guys!

How much will it cost to replace the KS? do you have any idea?

I believe it's in the range of 300-500 bucks at the dealer because they "have to" remove the intake manifold to get to it. I'm not even going to say how much one of the local dealers here in louisville quoted. If you have any DIY mechanic skills at all you should have no problem besides bloody hands. Here is the best link for removal and replacement of the KS(IMO):http://www.skippynet.com/maxima/knocksensor.htm

Dealer will charge around $180 just for the part, but here's one on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2436965901 or wait a few days for this guy to put up an auction for $90.

Install it yourself

Just called a local nissan dealer. Here is the answer, $80 for diagnose, and $150 for part and $80 for labor.

I had a friend who is majored in electronics. He developed a small gadget which could be used to read error code from ECU. It is so cool. He helped me check ECU, found nothing.

Could this be my wrong feeling?
