White Out Amber 95-96 Cheap Effecient Way

Hey yall..aight i have a 96' maxima. And im on the verge of figuring out how to make the amber white. I'm conducting some experiments..and soon once i get a 100% result i like ill post it on here. I've used $15 in all to conduct his project..I think by tomorrow i should have the final project complete. The problem is since we cant get the amber out,i've attack the problem from outside. MOre on this l8r so keep chking back.

KsuMax 11-03-2003 09:28 PM

Badass, I REALLY hope it turns out, let us know how it turns out, I'm sure you will be the most popular person with the 95/96 owners if you get it to work.

ivelweyz 11-03-2003 09:36 PM

I don't see any way to make them clear. The plastic itself is amber and only way to change is to paint it. Unless you cut out the amber and replace it with a custom piece and silicone it in place...

Max Noob 11-04-2003 02:18 AM

take lots of pics. make a write up.. u will be the mann..if it looks good.

mzmtg 11-04-2003 05:19 AM

Just spray the amber part with clear paint.

What's so hard about that?

:gotme:

sounds to me that he is using a white transparent spray so it covers up the orange...? much like a tint spray, only white not dark...

i know some people have used vynal before in white to cover it up, kinda looked funny.

hopefully this comes out decent for you...goodluck

I sprayed mine. I used Testors clear model paint. Three coats right over the amber plastic got me this:

i keep seeing his name on maxima.org...seems like people have gotten there tails done by him or something. I'm confused

my99maxisnice 11-04-2003 09:15 PM

Yes, he did a few a while back, but from what I've heard, he quit.

daroknessmonsto 11-04-2003 09:17 PM

David Ls' work can be seen in my sig :)

mungrin 11-04-2003 09:23 PM

how does he do it?

my99maxisnice 11-04-2003 09:26 PM

I think he got the all clears and painted them. Correct me if I'm wrong.

daroknessmonsto 11-04-2003 09:27 PM

You mean how DID he do it? He no longer makes them currently because there are no clear lenses made anymore for our models. He took clears from people (while they were still made) and painted the bottom half for them. He matched it almost perfect as you can see. Its too bad the all clears aren't made anymore.

mungrin 11-04-2003 09:30 PM

perhaps that is the easiest solution? To find all clears and just paint the bottom? Or maybe not?

Well...I wouldn't say EASIEST. It has become difficult to find all clears. You are lucky if you can get yourself a pair of all clears or red/clears at this point. But yes those are basically the only two solutions until CM /other companies start producing them.

he said he was doing it from the outside....just gonna glue a lens on there and call it a day.

Heh. I'm anxious to see how this guys "project" turns out. I have many doubts.

SXN 11-04-2003 09:37 PM

agreed... how could u do it easily from the outside?

That won't work. If he just glues on a clear lens the amber is still gonna show through it, and it will look like ***. The only way to get rid of the amber is to paint it red. I don't feel like spending $300 on all clears, that's just stupid...

Not photoshopped. These are all clears that were painted red. You can tell by looking at the photo. The red is just slightly off in color. These are actual red/clears

i was joking about glueing it on the outside. he said he found an easy way to do it from the outside...how is that possible?
