Flywheel can't be resurfaced?
I was told by someone that the flywheel on my 5-spd can't be resurfaced. Apparently there's a magnetic part to it that would stop working if a resurface should occur. Anyone else any info on this? I'm havnig my clutch replaced at the moment by the dealer, and they told me they would resurface it...

i got mine re-sufaced 2-3 weeks ago, and i have not had a problem yet...

Who the f*ck told you that? :slap:

sometimes if the flyweel is really really beat it cant be resurfaced due to hot spots and bad wear. i dont know anything about magnetized parts.

Someimes when you cut a flywheel you need to shim it the amount you cut off

I looked at the all-data computer and for the flywheel it says to replace and do not resurface

Andrei No need for cursing! I was told the same thing by the dealership a long long time ago. The flywheel can be resurfaced. The only time it cant be resurfaced its if it had cracks on it. You can visually see the cracks. Cracks would come from extreme heat and or driving around around w/a damaged disk. Have I sen a flywheel with cracks? yes, my fathers flywheel had lots of stress cracks on it. Weird but it happens. |
