Universal. Autozone. Hood struts.

yep... just ask them to run the parts number through the computer. replaced mine last week... they are $40, if you dont want to pay that much just stick vice grips on the strut when you want the hood to stay up... worked for me for 2 years before i got around to replacing them...

From Autozone, is the part called "MIGHTY-LIFT HOOD", part number E95784? Says $20...so maybe I have the wrong item.

Can ya point me in the right direction, I'm trying to get a late x-mas gift for my dad's 97 SE :santa2:

are the hood struts car specific??

Yes

Three options
1) Go get the $40 ones with a lifetime warentee, and replace them every 2 years for free.
2) Get the hella expensive ones from the dealer and PAY for new ones every 3 years
3) Go cheap (like me), use a vise grips and hope they at least work when it warms up
