Full LED Tail Lights Done with lots of pictures.
Here are my LED tail lights. I took a different approach to making these as i did not want to spend a lot of time making these and i also wanted to make these as legal as possible (used pre-made LED assemblies that are DOT legal). Ill be making a write-up on how to make these. It did cost a bit more that what other people have done but it’s a lot easier and quicker to do.
# of LEDs: 432
Cost: ~$180(ill get the exact number for the write up)
Time: 4-6 hrs

well the problem i ran into with the reverse lights is that they don’t make that many white LED pre-made assemblies, the ones i found where $150-200 for the pair and that was too much so i ended up making my own. But as soon as i find a pair that is reasonably price ill be putting those in.

they are not tinted, the circut board its self and the housing are painted black but the led's are exposed

Thos rectangles kinda do not flow with curves of the tails, but that's just me....from far away it looks quite cool though!!!
other than this it is a great and still unique mod.. (on average every two months someone comes up with LED tails i guess).
Looks like some people are gearing up for Tobay Meet, well including me!
Q: how did you fix LED board in place?

i used screws to secure them to the tails. And as for the shape unless you build your our boards this is the only one that can fit inside the tails. And it took forever to find, but thanks to this website i found it.

i went for something that is easy to make and as legal as possible

I personally don't like how the "blocks" look, but the fact that you came up with a new idea which took less time is great. You have a creative mind like I do and you do great work. Nice to see people doing different styles of LED tails
Please don't think I am hating, youre car is sweet and so is your custom work.

Looks like a job well done, and a good option for people who don't want to invest the same amount of time as other LED tails.
As for styling, I don't really like the squares/rectangles...doesn't really fit.

George, I give you props everytime you DIY something badazz, but the rectangle just doesn't look that smooth with the rounded lights. If this were something like an old i30 or a car with rectangular lights, it would fit... but it kinda stands out with the rounded shape of our tails. I thought it was going to be something more like this:
