Ouch.... why I hate SUV's
Ok so I'm driving on the way to my basketball game, and of course my mom was in the car too (I'm 17) and so she's talking to me and distracting me *wink wink* and I accidently rear end a Lexus SUV.... yeah not too happy about it but the part that made me soo mad is... that it is very true that SUV's are safer seeing as this is what it did to my car, and they got like 2 scratches.
Picture: http://bullyballa.port5.com/max_fl.jpg I know I'm just ragin and very bitter seeing as I loved my baby... oh yeah and props to anyone who can guess how fast I was goin when it happened. |

thats really not that bad...I say 23mph
-matt |
High strengh bumpers don't do much good when the SUV impact occurs several inches above the bumpers.
I don't have a problem with big SUVs other than the fact that their bumper heights are too high for "off-road" clearance requirements. Most SUVs on the road look like they could be lowered around 3 - 5 inches and still do fine on suspension travel and road clearance for the street. SUV owners do pay more for insurance in general. Of course, when people have that kind of money to spend on new SUVs for capability they don't need, insurance and gas costs aren't going to matter to them. |
you are mad about SUV's because they are big, but that should have made it easier to see that it was stopped in front of you... suv's do serve a purpose to those that actually require a large vehicle, but all those damn soccer moms that can't drive for sh!t anyway need to go back to the good ol' station wagon
oh and I'll say 13 mph since the high bumper can fold a hood like a piece of paper
probably less then 20 in the teens say...18
i would say you were going about 10-15mph.... my accident was somewhat like that. mines was estimated at $5000 worth of damage.
i am guessing 21 mph and have no reason to back it up
19.5 mph  sucks that you rear ended the guy, hope it gets all fixed up nice and perdy
10-15 is my guess... that sucks dude :(
maybe this is your chance on getting a CF hood.
id say 16mph.
lousy suv's. those damn things are a menace to society. i bet 90% of those who own one dont even go offroading. the most offroading they do is running onto and off of curbs or driving over rocks and pebbles on the road. its just not for their safety... they have to think about the people around them!!!! if you want more room, get a wagon. |
25mph. buy a cf hood now.
no more than 10-15. Same thing happened to my grandma in a chrysler aclaim. She was doing about 20, hit the back of a pickup truck, and totaled the car.
no offense but you had the time to see exactly what mph you hit? I had the same accident as you(not as bad) but I had other things on my mind than looking at the speedo.
id say 19MPH. . .
No offense, and I dont like SUVs either, but you hit the car, the car didnt do anything to bother you, in fact its easier to miss a grey sedan than a big *** SUV. . . . |
Guess you learned your lesson the hard way...when I just started driving I would ignore ppl speaking to me. Next time tell your mom to be quiet.
Hey wow lot of replies... I'm special.... But yeah Wisky97SE and SkinnyMax I know it was my fault, never said or meant to say it wasn't, and I did see the SUV but I took my eyes off the road and they stopped quicker than they were (we were both slowing down at the time) and by the time I looked up again I just saw my hood bent up. I'm just kinda annoyed by the fact had it been a normal car that I hit at around 5-10 mph then it wouldn't be that much damage seeing as I probably wouldn't have gone under their bumper. And MaximaGuy2003 lol yes that is the truth my man. BTW See The Passion of the Christ if ya get the chance it's very intense but worth the watch if you can stomach it (remember its a true story too).
