Please help! Can't remove steering wheel!
 

I'm trying to remove the steering wheel, but apparently the local auto parts store gave me the wrong steering wheel puller. How do these things work? The steering wheel shaft has a hole in the middle of it and all the bolts that came with the steering wheel puller are too big. This is really PlSSING me off, for two days now, I've been trying to do this.

the middle bolt should not go into the steering column, the 2 outer bolts screw into the steering wheel and the middle one should just push on the column

but where do i stick those other two bolts? theres a few holes i see, but none of the bolts that came with the kit fit, i tried the other two and they thread in a few turns and thats it. plus, i can see the clockspring under the holes and i dont think thats where it goes. mines a 1998 btw

I've removed steering wheels on other vehicles that didn't have airbags but not the max...yet. in the haynes manual it shows that the screws should be about 30 degrees counter clockwise from vertical, one looks to be underneath a plastic cover. and the bolts may not fit they may have been idiots and not given you metric bolts

well i hope i didnt mess up the threads that bad....this is really getting under my skin. nothing is matching up on the bolts,,,its c0ckeyed bad. if i did mess up the threads, they outta buy me a new wheel because of there mistake.

you can get a basic measurement of the diameter of the bolt holes and then go to the hardware store and buy a variety of sizes and threads

im not buying nothing, i put down a deposit and rented the tool. my cousin is a service manager and he's good with cars, so im gonna let him look at it tomorrow.
