car won't start, need help...

hey guys, last night after school my max wouldn't start. All of the lights come on, and the radio works so i believe it's not the battery. Also i can hear the shhhh sound so i assume the injectors are working. But the starter doesn't even start turning. I think it could be the starter, but the only thing that bothers me is that i didn't see any signs of it failing, because the car would start from half a turn. Is it possible that it could be something other than the starter? How much does a starter cost, and how hard is it to replace it? Thanks in advance for any help!

first thing i would do would be to get someone to tap your starter while you turn the key. have them hit it with something hard like a 2x4 piece of wood or something. sometimes the solenoid gets a little stuck and doesn't want to engage. if this works, i would change your starter asap cause you can't have someone hit your starter everytime. if that doesn't work, try swapping out your battery. just cause your lights come on doesn't mean you have enough amps to crank your motor. btw, you do have gas and your fuses haven't blown have they? sorry, had to ask.

I had about the same problem two nights ago, i had to try 4 times before the car starts.

How do you get to the starter, i con't seem to find any info on that. Sorry i don't have a Manual or anything.

you can get to the starter by removing the whole filter section, from the throttle body on. take it all out unplug all the tubing thats attached and the starter is under where the filter section was. there is a little harness attached to it that can be pulled off and the power cable that is taken off. theres to different size bolts that may be tough to get out but you CAN do it by hand. make sure the battery is disconnected though. takes about 5-10 minutes to replace and reattach everything. Super easy to change yourself

If you have a manual you can push your car and get it to start, but if auto then i dont know. get your starter changed asap. i went to the wrecking yard and got a starter off a 98 maxima for $50.

this just happened to me like 3 days ago lol.
