I want 2 clean my car's EnGiNe !
After changing my car's water pump, there was some oil left on some parts of the engine + "other kinds of dirt", all greasy. Is there any kind of a spray, maybe, to shine clean all that, because there are areas that I can not reach with with a cloth or something... I just want to spray, and rinse, and ... done!

go to your local autoshop and buy one of those "engine cleaner" for $4, grab a towel, spray and wipe.

I think some carwashs offer that service (engine cleaning)

You can spray the engine down with DILUTED (NOT full strength it will definitely stain your hoses) Simple Green, or some type of Citrus Cleaner (which will definitely not stain hoses...I use meguiars Citri-Gel Multi-Cleaner) and then rinse the engine with LOW PRESSURE water from the hose. You need to cover things like your battery, alternator, relay boxes, etc. with plastic. It's best if you have air so you can blow any stray water out of the connections as well. Be careful and don't blame me if anything goes wrong. Some people take a lot less precautions, but I think you're asking for trouble.
Truth is you need to scrub though...that will only get it so clean...take an hour or so and scrub and it will look much better. |
Just make sure you do this to a cool engine.

castrol super clean : look for big purple jug at walmart. mix 50/50 with water in spray bottle. then hose down.
let engine cool down before you use the stuff and also remember to take some aluminum foil and wrap up electrical parts and cover the alternator the best you can. if you have a kn filter type cover it up to with walmart bag. use old work rag for better results ...lol |
Thank you so much guys, you've been so helpful

Be very careful with the aluminum foil near the battery, alt and starter - that just sounds wrong to me. I would use ziplock backs or saran wrap...

yeah, go to the manual things in the car wash, they have an "engine degreaser" thing u can use, i dunno how good it works, but they have it.
