Hows the ride with Sprint springs and KYB's?
Hey guys, im thinking about upgrading my suspension to sprint springs and KYB AGX's, and then gettin some nice 18's to go with them. I have a few questions first.
1) How does this setup compare to the Stock SE suspension? 2) How does this setup ride with 18's? 3) Anything i should be aware of before i buy this setup? 4) For example...would i be able to get these struts here off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2465729529 and get the the springs from southwestautoworks.com Is there anything else that i should look out for before i getting this? Thanks! |

1) It's not even close to the SE suspension.
2) Harsh, harsh and sometimes even harsh. 3) The car sits very low and suspension travel is limited. Bumps will become annoying after a while. 4) Yes On a positive note, your car will probably look pretty good with that setup. |

Hmm....so what will be ur suggestion for suspension if i plan on rollin on some 18" Mille Miglia's?
|
H&R springs paired up with Tokico Illuminas.
|
Will that combination look good? The setup with sprint springs and KYB AGX's cant ride that bad.
|
I have the most comfortable lowering springs for our cars on my Max right now, they are H&R's. These springs combined with my KYB/AGX's make for a pretty stiff ride, no matter what setting they are on(I have tried all of them). On smooth roads they are nice, but anything else you WILL FEEL the imperfections on the road quite a bit. The sprint springs lower the car more than the H&R's, and are known to be stiffer, so my guess is that the ride quality will only be worse than my combo. On my sig you can see how much the H&R's dropped my car. I plan to switch to the Illuminas some time in the future to have a smoother ride. You should PM njmaxseltd regarding what would be the best combo for what you are looking for (handling, drop, comfort), he is our suspension expert :) .

Thanks for ur help dude!!! i contacted njmaxseltd , lets c what he says!

I have that setup with 17"x7.5" wheels.
It is rough on the car, and very bumpy to the butt. I can't imagine hitting a bumpstop though, you would really have to be going at some speed since the springs are so stiff. Suspension travel is limited but the car handles like it's on rails. A large factor in handling many people overlook is the lower COG (center of gravity). Sprints sit very low, and I can assure you at 120+MpH not many (if any) setups feel as stable. -Cyrus |
hmmm....so then what else are my options that would make my drop and rims look good and ride be good
|
re
Get some illuminas and H&R springs , you car will look and drive great.
Sprints are way to harsh when coupled with KYB AGX - those struts don't respond well to cold weather ( they don't rebound quick enough and your car is jumping over bymps instead of absorbing them) plus Sprints are known to sag with time, they drop uneven and one day thy might look like those: courtesy of unknown .org member http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...07_53_full.jpg Nick. |
So u have tokicos and kybs?
|
Before you read, let me say that I have Progress instead of Sprints but they're are very similar.
1. 2/4 not much stiffer than SE. 3/5 is acceptable for daily driving if your roads are nice. 4/7Transforms the Max into a go-kart. I like this setting alot but its way to stiff for daily use. 2. Rides nice with 17's. 3. If I remember Sprints are lower than Progress. I wouldn't suggest going with Sprints for the above listed reasons. And because you live in a cold area I would suggest the Tokico kit over AGX although I haven't yet noticed the AGX's being bad in cold. But thats because I haven't riden on them when its 90 degrees yet. |
So u think i shud do tokico and eibach combination?
|
Just had a thought. Check out the suspension package that Custom Maxima has for sale. It's a complete Tokico setup, springs and Illuminas. The drop is about 1.8" which would make your 18's look hot and the ride is pretty good. I've installed 2 of those setups on .org members cars. It's a great deal.
Here's the link. http://www.custommaxima.com/TokicoKits.php |
so for 599, springs and struts with a 1.8" drop. Thas pretty close to the 2" drop from the sprints. So u would definetly recommend this?
Anything a bit cheaper? 599 seems alot, and then get it installed, it would jus end up being way to much money. btw...what about the HP series? |
If you install it yourself it doesn't cost much. How can you be Maxima Obsessed if you don't install your own mods. The Tokico Spring/Illumina Strut package was the setup I was refering to in my previous post. I recomend that or AGX/Progress.

i just installed AGX's w/ progress springs. it took me 6 months to decide on stupid springs. i wanted a drop that would look good (sprints) but not have to worry about hitting bump stops or complaints about stiffness (columbus,oh roads suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) (go bucks!) but they handle great and if you do your homework you can get a good deal, i have use of a garage w/ lifts and air tools so i did the install myself but i spent $540 total. if you are worried about looking dropped dont go w/ H&Rs or eibachs, even though eibachs are the best.
