Weird clutch feel....don't know whats wrong
Ok, the other day I think my clutch started acting up. Basically my clutch use to be nice uniform pressure, grabbing right in the middle. 2 or 3 days ago, this went away. Now, for the 1st 1/3 of the travel it feels like I have little pressure and then I have pressure in the pedal. The clutch seems to engage/disengage a lot lower than it used to, like almost all the way at the bottom but the clutch itself is completely fine....I can get into every gear normally, no slipping. What could this be? Tried inspecting the hydraulics, and it doesn't appear theres any leaks and fluid level is fine.

You either have a leak in your clutch system or you are simply low on clutch fluid. Check the fluid, fill it to the top and then bleed your clutch system to regain the lost pressure.
|
its possible your screw on the back of your pedal is loose (on thats on the master cylinder rod) and it adjusted your clutch freeplay, thereby adjusting the level at which your clutch engages/disengages.

ill have to check that screw, can you tell me where because i looked at the pedal and it looks really complicated under there

I'm not totally sure since it's been a while, but I think that's what mine felt like when the hose going to the slave cylinder started leaking. Just keep an eye on the fluid level.

the same thing happend to me. at first, it was hard to shift into gears then, I couldn't shift into any gear with the engine running.. i found out that i have a leak in a hose and almost all my fluid leaked out. i am in the process of getting a new hose. |
yeah if you run out of fluid you aren't going to get the car moving, happened on my '90 300ZX in the middle of downtown columbus :( I managed to pull it over, walk to a gas station, buy some brake fluid, fill it up, then have my buddy push the clutch pedal in and out about 1000 times while I kept filling it up. Was enough to be able to use 2nd and 4th gears to get it home. Found out my clutch slave cylinder was leaking, swapped it out the next day. Don't take these leaks lightly, they sneak up on you and BAM you're screwed!

check fluid lvl in slave cylinder, refill and bleed if needed
