What's involved in painting the engine cover?
I want to paint my engine covr. Can I use regular brake caliper paint or do I have to use a special engine paint. Can someone give me some details on the kind of paint I have to use and the process in painting it (prep and procedure)

Engine Cover? Do you mean that lil valve cover thing that says NISSAN 3000 on it? If so that thing doesn't get as hot as the actual engine itself I dont think... Everytime I open the hood and touch it its not very hot.

That's from an accord forum where this guy painted a 2.2 cl valve cover and put it on his accord. Looked pretty cool to me and it sounds like he knew what he was doing. Hope that helps. |

any type of painting requires articulous cleaning prep. just make sure your surface is clean. then put couple coat over whatever item you are painting. 1st coat: lightly spray and pray dry 2nd coat: medium spray and pray dry 3rd coat: final coating, make sure the finish is nice and clean make sure the entire unit is dry completely good luck :) |

I used some fusion paint for plastic. I can't remember who makes it but you can get it at walmart or anywhere. It dries fast and is made just for plastic so it won't chip or anything. Works really well so far.
