Really . Try twisting the hose first . Hold the filter . Wrap a shop rag around the hose and twist, twist, twist as you work it off . They can be a big PITA but this usually works .

make sure the clamps are fully loosened. i had to take mine completely off cuz the hoses were on too tight. than try to pull the off. still dusnt work than crank the engine a couple times to release sum pressure from the lines.

use a flatblade screwdriver. pry/push one end of the hose a lil, then the other side, and repeat. Then use your hands to pull and twist hose off. Use any combo of these methods to get it off. If you want to cut one corner, the top hose on the filter can be cut off, and replaced with a pep boys one for a dollar. Don't cut the bottom one tho, it's not easily replaceable.

yea i finaly got thos elittle fers off! I pryed teh bottom of the hose with a screw driver till it got loose then pulled it.
it was much easier with mid pip removed to i had tons more room to work!

A little late but...
Changed out the fuel filter on my 98 Max(no ABS) for the first time
yesterday. I used and trick from my days of working on motorcycles to
make it easier. I pry up the edge of the fuel hose with a screwdriver
and then squirt a little WD-40 between the hose an the tube. After
that, the hose is fairly easy to remove by twisting and pulling.

Directions:
1. If you have stock intake, or HAI, remove it.
2. Get a plastic bag, and fill with 1/2 a roll of paper towels. Place bagin engine bay, so it's right under the filter.
3. Remove top hose, and place filter into bag, and point hose into bag.
4. With filter in the bag, remove bottom hose, and leave bottom hose in the bag.
5. Put new filter in, attach bottom hose, then, top hose, tighten everything.
6. Remove bag from engine bay, put off to the side.
7. Replace intake(if removed)
Disposal:
1. Take bag (filled with filter and gas-soaked towels), and light on fire.
2. Throw onto d1ckhead neighbor's lawn.
3. Watch grass and leaves catch fire.
4. Watch fire grow.
5. Watch house catch on fire.
6. Watch d1ckhead neighbor return home to find house on fire. Laugh.
7. Watch d1ckhead neighbor try to rescue photos and precious family heirlooms from home.
8. Watch him/her fail.
9. Laugh.
10. Go inside, make some nachos, and watch TV.
