HELP!! Rear Brake install, I can't get the cylinder compressed!!!

I'm installing new brakes and I've got the front done, but on the rears, I can't get the cylinder compressed.

I'm using a C-clamp to try and compress it, is there somthing I need to do in order to get it compressed??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

The rears need to be turned clockwise. Use a needle nose pliers with the tips in the pits and slowly turn. Make sure the boot doesn't bind as you do this or it will tear.

Never compresswith C-clamp!!!!!!!!!! You gonna destroy it! Turn with needle nose pliers just as said above --^-^-- clockwise and slowly apply pressure.

...is this a sezon or smth.. everyone doing brakes this week, I just finished mine few ours ago but spent 1,5 hours trying to fit outer pad on the caliper, it was too tight and just would not go, had to work with the hammer, did anyone have this problem too?

There's a universal tool at auto parts stores that goes on a ratchet. It runs around $5-$10 I think. Makes it a breeze.

I bought the $33 tool kit, works great. The #7 adapter fit the Maxima rear piston.

wind back tool

If you had compressed the piston sufficiently and you still couldn't get the caliper positioned easily, I would say that you may have not lined up the grooves on the piston proerly, at 12 3 6 9 o'clock. You have to do that because the groove fits over a knub on the back plate of the pad.

I'll try it with the pliers first thing in the morning.

Thanks,
Steve
