To those who've changed their parking side lamps to brigther - question!!
- Yeah, as the subject states. When I tried to make my side lamps brighter, the bulbs would get extremely hot very quick. (I'm talking about the side lamps that are next to the headlights). For the people that changed theirs, did you have melted harnesses due to the temperature of the bulb, or did the fuse go out on you? Did you have nay problems at all.
I seem to have my lights on all the time - throughout the day as well! I'm afraid I will melt the housing/harness due to the increased temp. Thanks Ed |
since i made mine brighter about two months ago, i have had no problems at all. and i do a lot of night driving too. i dont think you have to worry about it melting anything.
|
i did mine since last year and no problems or anything so go for it

You can put amber in there instead if you don't like the dull white look and brighter bulbs are giving you problems. If your corners are orange you might not like the amber with the orange, but if you do have clear corners with amber bulbs, it will match. I felt amber with the orange was better than the dim oem clearance lights next to hyper whites.

are you running both the bulb filiments?????? or just the brighter one?????? I have had this mod for close to 4yrs with no problem.... I rewired so the brighter filiment was on with the parking lights and the dimmer one is on with the turnsignal
|
I had the corner light next to the headlight running on the brighter filament for almost a year with no problems at all...now its rewired as my signal
|
I've had this rewired for 4 yrs w/o a problem.

same here no problems, i've had mine for a while. on a side note, z32drifter ur car's are sweet. the z32 rims look perfect on the max. you've done a damn good job with the z32 as well, any more info on it? and more on ur max? a website? more pics? anything?  |
2+ years and one of them is a cheap DEPO brand corner light and none have signs of melting or warping.
|
I'm using regular 1157 Sylvania bulbs and no problems so far (did it last summer). The yellow doesn't go with the white light from the Cool Blue bulbs so I'll replace it soon with hyperwhite bulbs.

np the slicktops were so rare and nice, i always wished i could find a slicktop black on black mmm that would have been so nice lol i just wish i had kept the z32 tt rims i had on my 240 to put on the max, those would have been beautiful just like ur car

I have also read threads about people that have done this and cracked or melted their housings. I would not do it, because it is just making more heat than it was designed for. It cannot handle the heat, the housing will be affected.
Those of you that have not had problems, you are pretty lucky or something. |
there are multiple ways of doing this, if you just turn the bulb around after taking off the nub, i believe it is more likely to be a detriment, if you actually re-wire it then i do believe there is less possibility of burning/melting, i have had no problems at all with my re-wire
|
I re-wired mine about 3 months ago after I got the car. and no problems yet!
But if I start to see any signs of melting or burning I'll be sure to change it back... |
