I'm a bonehead
We're selling one of our cars, a '98 Honda CRV. I was gonna put it on ebay tonight which I did, but I was in a rush to get it on in good time and run it for 7 days to end next Sunday.
So while I'm writing it up I remember that I had put good Polk speakers in the CRV and wonder if I could swap them out with my stock non-bose speakers in the Max instead of just giving them to someone that could care less about them when they buy it. I run out to the max and start checking to see what size was in there. Looking at the back deck the speaker grills look like they should pop off. So in a total mad rush I start prying them up with my fingers. They are on tight but I figure 'hey, stuff always just pops off with enough pressure'. WRONG!! Snap! The friggin' thing just snapped in half on me! ARGHH!! It looks awful! Well it looks like it can be superglued with a little effort at least so we'll see tomorrow. I'm such a moron. I looked it up on the net and it looks like you have to remove the rear seat, then the whole back deck to get at the speakers. What stupid design!! Speakers are going with the CRV now so this was for nothing. |
nice work.........:)

They are screwed
|
i popped off my speaker grilles with force and didn't break any.

you can't pop these off. i just checked them this morning now that its light out. they are screwed down and you need to remove the rear seat to do it because the screw heads are in between the rear deck and the metal roof of the trunk (can't get at them from inside the trunk). stupid design.
mine is a '95 so maybe they fixed it in later models? |
