Car won't start...what could it be?

Hello everyone. First time poster here because I've never had a problem with my 99 Maxima since I got it.

Unfortunately, my car will no longer start and it is not the battery since I have tried to jump it and it still won't go.

Any ideas on what might be causing it not to start if it is not the battery? The engine will rev, but won't kick over.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

95% chance your immoblizer been triggered. Common problem with the 99's. Only way to fix is to have car towed to dealer so they can reprogram the immobilzer and all your keys. Average cost around $120 .

Mine did that the other morning, gave it a bit of throttle while trying to start it and it eventually kicked over :) Not sure why it did that though, first time it had ever done it. Admittedly, the car was covered in ice, but it has been in colder conditions (covered in a thick layer of snow, heh)and started perfectly.

If the immobilizer had kicked in, I wouldn't have thought the engine would give sounds like it's trying to turnover? I'm not very clued up when it comes to immobilisers, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :)

You probably have a crank position sensor thats dead. Check POS which is located under the car on the transmission bell housing. If that sensor is dead, you will have a crank, but no start condition.

The crank position sensor was my other 5%. When the immoblizer been triggered, the car will turn over like it wants to start, but can't because the immoblizer has shut off the fuel.
