That cut off line is excellent and so sharp. I love that.
That is why you must do it right.

If you are going to convert to a 9007, just do regular Halogen. the beam pattern is still better than the 9004's, but then you will not be unsatisfied with your HID set.

Maxima10to1 did a write up on the first few pages of the Forums about how to convert with virtually no cost. Try it out...looks to be a good mod.

Go with Bohmen 7000k.

Y2KSESteve 07-02-2004 11:30 AM

Here's a horrible picture:

I'd like projectors, but this works for now..

Yea if you want crap I definitely suggest following this person's advice.

HybriDSM 07-03-2004 12:00 AM

anyone else have some more pics for comparison?

Kevlo911 07-03-2004 05:29 AM

The Katz 9004 HID is good.

Taken2DaMax 07-03-2004 06:28 AM

I hear that McCullough kits that come out are crap, who can back that up? I've got a McCullough kit the only thing that is wrong with it is that the beam is scattered in the headlight.

What do u guys think of this Kit.

Maxine 07-03-2004 09:08 AM

Well you need the 9004 conversion kit.

formz 07-03-2004 05:04 PM

Oh my god why do you people not listen. Those off the shelf kits are GARBAGE. McCullough's are some of the worst HIDs you can buy.

The problem with HID kits is everyone is too damn lazy to do some research. EVERYONE INTERESTED IN HID KITS GO TO WWW.HIDFORUM.COM and look the stuff up for yourselves.

takentomax it's people like you who are forcing the government to investigate banning ALL HIDs (even OEM ones) because most people can't differentiate between your crap reflector style HIDs and true ones.

Silvia 07-03-2004 08:00 PM

if i have to buy hid again im gettin bi-xenon projector with lil more money...i think evey penny spent on bi-xenon projector is worth it plus their beam pattern and cut off line is amazing.

and to all the people with HID!

please!! re-aim ur headlight lower! you peoples are blinding me!

Alright formz...no need to get all fcukn mad. Unfortunatly I didn't do the right research before getting this kit. And now i'm paying for it. Once you do that write-up for the projector install, I'm getting some bi-xenon projectors and a friggen new kit. Cuz this one it brings me too much trouble...

If you want HID's do projectors. Here you can see the low/high beam patterns and what they look like from different heights when you look into them. I bet a lot of people appreciate it when I’m coming head on.

yo formz, let us know please when you have the full-write up. Thanks.

PharoNDmist 07-04-2004 02:23 PM

There was someone selling the Bi-xenon kit, who was it again? I'm going to convert my kit as well. The Hanabi's are not that great, I alsways had a problem with my ballast and now they are both dead. I didn't even have for a year yet. I'm going straight with the projectors. Anyone know where to get them from?

formz 07-04-2004 02:32 PM

Alright, I did my install friday-today. I will NOT be doing a writeup. I got about 1/4 of the way through the install and realized that it just isn't possible to write directions. It's a custom job that will be different every single time some you install it. I WILL however answer ANY questions you may have.

What is the real kick in the balls about what I did was when they were all installed, I was adjusting the drivers side vertical alignment and the STUPID TAB ON THE HEADLIGHT BROKE OFF. So now I have a low aimed headlight until next weekend when I JB Weld the tab back on so I can aim this stupid thing.

nupe500 07-04-2004 07:51 PM

Formz....I recall you and I having a conversation about doing a write-up...LOL...see what I mean. As someone that has done the E55 retrofit...I can honestly say that there is no one way to do the install. I can ALSO answer any questions that any may have with respect to this, as I recently finished this about 2 weeks ago.

Welcome to the club Formz...now post pics..! :grinno:

see, i said the same thing every time someone asked for directions. The way i see this mod is; if you need step by step directions, don’t bother doing it. But if you have questions ask away. Also do some research there is a lot of info out there.

formz, take some pictures i want to see.

mclarke 07-04-2004 08:54 PM

ok questions asking away....

ive checked out HIDforum and done a bunch of reading...

from what i understand e55 are some of the more popular setups. bi-xenon is the way to go and this setup has it.

only question i have now is where do i find these wonderful beasts? Junkyards best place? or should i be looking for someone in the classifieds

well thats the only question i have at the moment... as soon as i can pick one of these up, im gonna do the swap myself. Fabrication is my middle name.

ebay is your friend. Also check the for sale section on hidforum.com, hidtech.com also sells parts, but its more $$$$

formz 07-05-2004 05:10 AM

Everyone will get pictures hopefully today after I fix that DAMN TAB haha

Nupe yea you were write, way too much custom stuff to do a step by step on. Those damn e55's are HUGE I had to hack a lot of stuff off the back of my headlight haha

Kevlo911 07-05-2004 05:15 AM

formz, I recall you saying you could get everything for $350, can you still get them? I used to see New everything on ebay for 400 but now I don't.

nupe500 07-05-2004 09:20 AM

Formz is right on...so is Geo1317....this mod is not for the meek...if you need step-by-step directions...you need to just pay someone to do them for ya..

1NICEMAX 07-05-2004 09:48 AM

Any of you guys live in Queens so that I may ask you guys to install them for me for a small price in the future? =)

formz 07-05-2004 10:38 AM

Haha I'm never installing them into a maxima ever again. If (when) I do it again, I'm going to make sure it's in a larger, circular headlight.
