Why max doesn't come with rear sway bar stock?
 

I was wondering why Nissan didn't put a rear sway bar on our Maxima stock? I was looking at my mini van the other day and it even has one from the factory, but it's a Dodge. I'm just curious. Please resond, thanks in advance.

Are stabilizer bars the same as sway bars? The gxe and gle came with stabilizer bars while the SE didn't.

Why doesn't the max come with HID's? or a Turbo? or anything else that it doesn't come with...

Proof, once again, how dumb Nissan engineers can sometimes be. The performance model doesn't have a sway bar, but the crappy handling luxo-barge does.

uhh doesnt the Maxima come with a sway bar inside the beam? It's just smaller in diameter than an aftermarket one.

The beam setup by design has it's own anti sway properties. By adding an aftermarket anti sway bar we are actually stiffening the beam setup even more so. That gives the rear suspension even more anti sway properties.

The front end of every 4th gen Maxima has an anti sway bar. For that matter, every car on the road has a stock front anti sway bar.

To explain simply(I cannot say anything that makes more sense than the previous post):

When a company is manufacturing a car, they put all the stuff on it that they can to keep it in a price range that they want it to be in. Sometimes, they may leave stuff off that it may or may not really need, in order to not run up cost. The lower their cost in producing, the more potential there is to make money.

the maxima is a family oriented car. most older drivers like understeer because it is more predictiable and takes a less experience driver to handle. its "safer" on a turn becasue there is less chance of spinning out.

that and production costs. and yes, the rear beam is its own sway bar.

yeah rear sway bar will make the rear end slide happy on uneven road. Since max is not a track car they decided to let the body roll and so on, instead of your rear end sliding out without you expecting it.

Holy Lord people, where do you come up with this stuff :grinno: Grab a towel, go to the back of the car, lay down, and reach up below and into the beam axle. You'll find a 1" swaybar in there, fellas. The trailing arms are welded into the beam AND the bar. The trailing arms form the pivoting points of the sway bar. Every 4th gen has a sway bar. I have my orginial window sticker for my 96 SE and it says front and rear stabilizer bars :.orgy:

So does this mean that adding an aftermarket sway bar does not matter?

no it just means the aftermarket will further stabilize it, but it already has one thats not large enough in diameter for it to handle the way enthusiasts prefer, its aimed to teh general public

The one thing that kinda gets me, is why the rear on an SE doesn't have independent suspension. My third gen did, but my fourth gen doesn't.

Also i had ash trays in both back doors, and i don't any more. people just ash in the handle. Fkucers. And if thats wasn't enough, the paint was thicker on my old max too. I have so many stone chips.
