96 max stalling and idle's rough
i have a 96 max automatic and it has just started idleing bad and sumtime it will just stall out , also lack of power when i try to take off it takes it like a few secs to take off but after that its fine. check engine light said it was knock sensor but guy said that wouldnt make it stall out . well i dont know what to do just wanted to see if anyone knows anything thanks

yo if it comes up as your knock sensor then its you knock sensor man and someting else also cuz the knock sensor doesn not give a check engine light on its own. so tell the guy hes full of it cuz like i said if code 34 comes up its the damn sensor cuz i had the same exact problem like you do when i gunned it it would hesitate a little then go and then i decided to check the codes my self by turning the skrew on the computer and looking at the check engine light and it showed what i was looking for so just look in the stickies and they will tell you its freaken easy man

so all i have to do is change the knock sensor or is it something else thats setting off the car to say its the knock sensor

The knock sensor is a common failure - heck I just replaced mine yesterday with the sub-harness. However it alone will not cause the car to idle rough and stall. You've got other problems.
- Faulty Injector(s) - Faulty Coil Pack(s) - Weak Compression in Cylinder(s) - Fouled Sparkplug(s) - ECM Issue - Idle Air Control Valve - Weak Fuel Pressure / Clogged Fuel Filter - Vacuum Leak - Faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor Have you pulled codes yourself? Also is the Check Engine light on? |

One of the positives of OBDII is that it can better pinpoint problems. You've probably got at least a misfire code set which would be a good thing as then you'd know what cylinder you'd be dealing with.
Follow this link and pull your codes and report back: http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html |
