Are NGK's worth it?

hey guys is there going to be any big difference in the performance of my car if i go with bosch spark plugs from O'reillys or do i really need to go with NGK's?

just stick with ngk, there pretty cheap in costs anyway.

If you can find them... On my visit to AutoZone and PepBoys yesterday, they didn't have either NGK coppers or platinums.. I kind of want coppers, so ordering them online is out of the question.

Only run NGK spark plugs in the Nissan engine. This point cannot be stressed enough. The engine and ignition system was designed with the internal resistance and exact parameters of NGK spark plugs in mind. Maybe some people have had some success stories running other brands, but others have lost 15hp, have lost gas mileage, have hesitation problems, or had to replace their whole engine, just by running non-NGK plugs.

OEM NGK type PFR5G-11 Platinum Spark Plugs
Description: This model is very highly recommended. They are the type supplied from the dealer. These spark plugs will last 60k miles.

NGK is a must for our engines.
I would get the BK5RE-11 though. They are coppers and will last only about 30k miles, but are 1/3 the cost of the plats.

nismology Jul 27, 2004 11:38 AM

Err...you mean BKR5E-11...

ogparjay Jul 27, 2004 12:39 PM

ogparjay Jul 27, 2004 12:41 PM

killcrap Jul 27, 2004 12:53 PM

nissan part number for NGK Copper is "22401-50y05"
nissan part number for NGK Platnium is "22401-1P115"

Pteryx Jul 27, 2004 01:34 PM

From NGK.. plugs for 99 Max

Standard BKR5ES-11
V-Power BKR5E-11
G-Power Platinum BKR5EGP
Laser Platinum PFR5G-11 * #
OE Laser Iridium IFR5E11 ^
Iridium IX BKR5EIX-11

The *# stands for premium laser cut plug, and OEM plug. I have no clue what ^ stands for. The G-Power platinums seem to be significantly cheaper.. any ideas why?

I just ordered some copper v-powers from napa online today(actually a bit cheaper than sparkplugs.com).. hmm..

ogparjay Jul 27, 2004 02:04 PM

g-power is rated higher then the coppers and they are cheap.
