for daily, street driving, what RPM's you shift at?
Shifting at lower RPM's saves gas right? But is it also true if you shift at too low of an RPM you waste gas when trying to drive? like goin from 2nd to 3rd and rpm drops to 800 and you accelerate.
I noticed that I always drive between 1-2000 and I shift at maybe 2500. The highest I ever shifted at was 3000. But obviously on the freeway in 5th gear the RPM's go around 4000. Just tryin to get some general info on this. |
Old, worn out subject.. just shift at 3k in ur gears, thats when it sounds ready to shift anyway. always sounds like thats the top of the band in most gears (well not TOP OF) but u get the point. u dont even have to look at the gauges. people can agree or disagree, but, nobody is ever right/wrong. do what feels and works right for U.
P.S. i hope ur talking about a standard.. lol |
i usually shift at about 3,500....been pulling almost 4 grand though lately, playing with the new intake, i love the sound...need to cut that out, the gas needle shows it

after i got my car i just read the owner's manual for the hell of it to find out the recommended shift speeds. they were like 15, .., 33, 39 mhp, if you shift at 33 and 39, thats about 2000 rpm. i try to shift at 2000 - 2500, im still calculating the miles/gallon thing.
