Calling all Cattman/PR CAI owners
When you installed your PR CAI and drilled and mounted the filter next to the fender wall, did you remove the splashguard/mudguard that covers the backside and underside of the filter when it sits in there?
It seems that that area is quite well covered and protected, and as a result might even restrict airflow into there.
Any thoughts?

You remove it to install, but you DEFINATLY need it there while driving.
It's not restrictive, look at most "hot" intakes, there do they get their air?
It's fine for regular driving, I would take out the fog light and bumper light for the track tho.

I was able to install it by just unscrewing a couple of the bolts that hold the guard in place. I didn't need to take it off.
However the reason I am contemplating it is because I have the Harrison R&D OBDII plugin and when I was reading the air intake temp. it was no different from a stock airbox or HAI even! 100-120 degrees depending on whether I was driving or idling. That is hella hot! The outside air temp. was about 70 degrees at worst. Makes me wonder how effective this really is!
I have the amb. temp. sensor taped into the hole real good - temporarily (since I have a 95 but the tube is for a 97-99). But before I drilled a couple of screw holes I wanted to make sure that the CAI is in fact doing what it is intended to do - which it does not seem to be doing at this point.
