Something's wrong

I got a 96 factory manual SE. Recently when ive been coming of a gear and going into neutral, the RPMs fall to around 300-400, sometimes even the little red oil light comes on dim and the go bounce back to the normal 600-700 in a second and everything is fine. This happens everytimes i get off a gear and go into neutral, after a second it goes back to 600 and stays there like nothing happend.

Idle air control orifice clogged in the TB?

WHOS UR DADDY Sep 13, 2004 10:19 AM

I have no idea what that is....

Jeff92se Sep 13, 2004 10:22 AM

In front of the TB plate, there is a little hole that allows air into the engine while the throttle is 100% closed. That might be clogged a bit. Or your idle air control valve is sticking from accumulated carbon etc.

WHOS UR DADDY Sep 13, 2004 10:33 AM

does that mean i gotta replace anything or i can simply clean it

ogparjay Sep 13, 2004 10:52 AM

DAVE Sz Sep 13, 2004 10:54 AM

WHOS UR DADDY Sep 13, 2004 10:57 AM

I just cleaned the throttle body a few months ago when i did my tune up. Anything else that it can possibly be?

I had a faulty oil filter that caused my oil light to come on on an old car at low rpms. Not sure how it did this but after I changed the filter the light never came on again.

You mean you had a bad filter and replacing it with a new one got rid of the proble? Well I'll be damned.

Certified Beast, look at your intake. There should be 3 hoses coming off the mid-pipe(or resonator if still stock). 1 on the left gping to the valve cover and 2 on the right, 1 small one and one big one. Follow the big one to the IACV, the thing with 4 colored connectors. That's what you need to take off and clean. There are 3 bolts holding it in and another smaller bolt you'll need to take off in order to remove the IACV completely.

READ the how to's and FAQ's to clean IACV and TB.
