"check" light is on..what's the problem?

My "check" light is on.. Manual says that it's likely smth with emissions, but does anyone actually know what may be wrong and what it might cost? Want to have some idea before I go to the shop...

thanks, but it is not an ECU code, it's the light on the dashboard.. could not find anything regarding it...
