Hello everyone, I'm new - pics of my Max included (56k warning!)

Hello everyone :wavey: , I'm new to the org. Just wanted to say hi and show off my Max. It's a 5-spd :mardi: 99 SE-L with 70k miles. My mods to date have been:

1) Red/clear tails

2) Custom shortened shift lever w/ momo shiftknob

3) FSTB (can't see in the pics)

4) PIAA xtreme white in both fogs and headlights

5..?) Had clear corners, but got bored of them and went back to orange. It's weird...I know, I can't explain it, but I like them more in orange. :gotme:

I do plan on lowering the car, but I'm a little short on cash now so I must wait. There are many pics, primarily because I wanted to show off my car and my new digital cam :doublethu

thanks...

I forgot to add - you're all probably wondering what are all these white dots doing on the paint hehe, it's funny I just waxed the car last week and did not do an expert job scraping the wax off as you can see. I used turtle wax and let it sit in the sun for about 3 hours. When it came time to wiping if off, it was already dark so I rushed.

Looks good man welcome to the board. What type of shift knob is that looks good. MOMO or momo replica?

Glad you asked. The shift knob is a real MOMO shift knob. It's the "race airleather" one and expensive too - ran me like $70. Some say that's a lot of money to spend on a shift knob, but it was worth it. It looks and feels very nice. Changing gears is all us 5-spd guys do so why not do it with style, great feel and comfort?

There was only one aspect of the knob that concerned me a while back before I bought it. I heard many say that these momo knobs have a tendency to become loose and fall off during hard-core shifting when racing for example. But I read on other auto forums that with a little of "lock-tight" applied to the screws that hold it together it should be firm and never fall off. I raced quite a few people since I put it on some 5 months ago and holds very well. I tried ripping it off and twisting it with all my might and it wouldn't let go.

I am extremely satisfied and would recommend momo shift knobs to everyone here.

That's a stock shifter that has been cut down? How much did you cut off? Looks like maybe 3"?

I too like the knob.

Looks great. Keep up the good work. I had the problem you mentioned previously about Momo knobs coming loose on hard shifts. Thanks for the tip about the Lock Tight, i'll give it a shot. Can you pick it up at a local auto store?

I don't know about a local auto store, but Home Depot, Ace Hardware and others alike must have them. I bought mine at Ace Hardware and once dry, it'll hold - trust me.

I too like the knob.

I cut off quite a bit of it - yes about 3" or more - stopped right before the level starts to wave down. It's really short and I like it that way. Believe it or not, switching gears has become easier and a little faster.

RA030726 Oct 18, 2004 01:30 PM
