How to replace control arm bushings?
I need help, i bought ES bushings from courtesy and i spent 3 hours today trying to remove old ones, i can't get stock bushings off? they look like they are glued on. I managed to take all of the bolts off but i cant seperate old bushings from the control arm. And new bushings seem too large, anybody know how to put them on? If anyone has done this give me some tips.

i did it awhile back
i use a press to punch out the old bushings or it was suggested me to burn it out then use the press to put the new once goodluck |
Yea you can burn them out but you'll definately need to get them pressed in...

I burned out and drilled out old rubber on bushings, then used a hack saw to cut thru 1mm or less sleeves that hold the rubber in place. Used screwdriver to pry them out with minimal force.
Used a vice to push the new bushing setup back in. |

It took me 4hrs to put the new one in, i could only replace one bushing (pivot). ES bushings were simply too big, i had to remove some material from them with dremel, i know it defeated the purpose of putting new ones in but i did this without removing the control arm from the car. Ride is ok so far, i feel aligment is off. I think GLE has a different bushing setup than other models.
My originals were torn off and i didnt feel like spending $200 on a whole assembly, this way i only spent $30. |
