Manual Transmission Fluid Capacity and Type

I'm replacing my manual transmission fluid, adding synthetic. How much and what type should I use?

any GL-4 only....buy 5 quarts. Many, inlcuding me, use Redline MT-90. If you can find the amsoil gl-4 get it. its really the best stuff IMO.

Whatever you do, don't let some one try to tell you a product labeled "Satisfies requirements for GL-1 through GL-5," or "GL-3, GL-4, GL-5" is o.k. IT IS NOT. ONLY BUY A GEAR OIL LABELED AND RATED SOLELY GL-4. You can find this in a Redline gear oil product or the Amsoil 80w90 synthetic gear oil. Amsoil sells it as a "Marine lower gearbox oil," but I checked with them and they stated this is for marketing purposes only. It is regular gear oil that can be used in an automotive transmission. I put it in my Max and its been great. You need between 4 and 5 quarts. Check the owners manual.
