can't take off fuel filter
wtf is wrong with my car. I can't take the hoses off the fuel filter. I cranked the engine maybe 10 times already and took off the clamps alrady. I tried pullin it off for like an hour already. what did you guys do.

Just keep trying...it'll come off. You might try a screw driver to sort of push the hose off rather than pulling it off.
|
Squeeze the end hose barbs gently to reduce the outside diameter with some pliers to crush it so it slides off easier.
|
twist, don't pull

Your not trying hard enough, get some needle nose and twist it off
|
If after you're ready to give up you could always cut the hose if you've got an extra inch of slack. Or buy some extra hose too.
|
this is kinda wierd cause after trying to pry it off and having a bubble form on my finger now... i cranked the car again and it sounded like it was struggling to start, like it was about to, and then not, and about to, then not. it's like pressure builded up or somethin ???

EXACTLY! Use a pair of robogrips, or any needle nose pliers will work. |
i cut my line on the bottom cause i couldnt get it of.then i moved the filter up for i can get to it better next time.you can get more hose at auto parts store and alll you need to do this.

twist twist twist, use a soft pliars of pliars with tape or somthing. dont damage the hoses
|
there is a little lip on the filter so make sure that the clamp is slid back pretty far onto the hose before you start twisting and turning.
|
today is another bright and sunny day. and i'm gonna make another go at it.
i don't think i have any pliers so gonna have to use my good ol hands again. I read in one of the threads about opening up the gas tank cap? what will that do in terms of pressure within the lines? and is cranking the engine numerous times for 5 seconds, bad for your engine in any way? it sure doesn't sound good for it... thanks. |
Dont pull on the hose. They act as a chinese finger lock. The more you pull, the more the hose will grab on the filter spout. You have to push on it. You really need pliers to first twist the hose right and left to break the seal, and second to push on the hose.
