1999 Maxima, clock problems?

Hey,,,
Just bought a 99 GLE, loaded - with 35k, super clean. The clock will go blank from time to time, and when this happens, it will lose time. I have to tap the LED to wake it up? short maybe? any ideas? Thanks

Where did you buy the car from? If you bought it from a private seller you basicaly call and explaine that you have problem with the clock. If you bought it from the dealer, they have to replace it, part of warranty. Other wise you can go to junky yard and find used one and try it out. It sounds like a bad clock.

or it also could be a short, have you tried taking the console up? Maybe the previous user had an after market system in it and messed up some wiring behind the console. Check it out

I just might deal with it for awhile. I don't really want to rip out the console at this time. I bought it from a mom and pop dealer place. They won't pay to get it looked at. errrrrrr

im petty sure its either a short or maybe a loose wireharness.

yea sounds like a loose connection or something.. try pulling the clock out and making sure wires are all secure
